A Word about Wells and Tables

When was the last time you drew water from an actual well?

(Insert the sound of crickets here.)

While wells aren’t really a common thing anymore, there was a time when they were places of communion where local townsfolk would gather not only to draw water, but to chat and joke with neighbors, share the latest gossip, and hear the latest news.

It’s the same with tables.

There was time when feasting from a common table was more, well, common. Nowadays the act of eating is a much more private and individual affair: We sit at our desks and slurp Cup o’ Noodles while we work, we scarf down drive-thru cheeseburgers while stuck in traffic, and so on.

This isn’t exactly the healthiest of lifestyles, for our bodies or our souls.

Our vision for the Well & Table is to be a shared space that fosters true community (a rare dynamic in our fast-paced, individualistic culture). And since our food and drinks will be locally sourced, our patrons will not only be connecting with their neighbors, they will also be connecting with their local farms, wineries, breweries, and distilleries.

All while feasting and drinking together.

The Well & Table is located in Gilman Village in Issaquah, WA. We are hoping to be open for business in late spring, 2021.
